ABCNews.com Profiles the Mainstreaming of Porn

NEW YORK — ABC News is the latest mainstream media news outlet to cover the evolution of porn stars into bonafide mainstream celebrities. The online article, titled “Porn Stars Reach Mainstream Fame” complete with a photo slideshow, is prominently featured on the ABCNews.com homepage.

The nine porn stars profiled in the ABC News piece are Jenna Jameson, Traci Lords, Mary Carey, Ron Jeremy, Stormy Daniels, Ginger Lynn, Seymore Butts, Belladonna and Dilara.

“While these adult-movie stars’ X-rated films may not be coming to a theater near you, the stars themselves are becoming household names,” the article reads. “Book deals, feature film roles and reality shows have put these salacious stars on the Hollywood map and poised them for ample tabloid fodder.”

Arguably the best-known female on the list, Jenna Jameson, got her mainstream break in Howard Stern’s “Private Parts” and has since gone on to appear in numerous big-screen motion pictures, TV series and talk shows. Her book “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale” spent six weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List.

A curious inclusion on the list was that of Dilara, a Turkish-German former porn star. Dilara, under her real name Sibel Kekilli left porn to star in the German film, “Head On.” She will portray a Jewish woman on the way to a concentration camp in her next film.
